Despite rumors about Tom Brady potentially not completing his 10-year contract with Fox, the former NFL quarterback-turned-analyst asserts that he hopes their partnership lasts even longer. Brady appeared on Colin Cowherd’s Fox Sports Radio and FS1 show on Wednesday afternoon, where he was immediately questioned about his future with the network. Although Brady has nine years remaining on his contract, many speculate that the seven-time Super Bowl champion could leave the booth following next month’s Super Bowl to concentrate on his minority stake in the Las Vegas Raiders.
“It breaks my heart that we only got to work a year together and you’re already leaving,” Cowherd joked after welcoming Brady to the show. “It’s really hard for me…I don’t know where you’re going, but you’re already leaving. Would you address that please?”
“I got nine years left on my deal and maybe longer, you never know. If Fox wants me, then I want to go. We’ll just keep going because it’s been really fun thus far.” – Tom Brady addresses future at Fox. pic.twitter.com/vDxRv70cWt

“I thought it was a great run, one solid year,” Brady said sarcastically, eliciting a laugh from Cowherd. “I don’t know where it comes from, I know it always says ‘sources close to Brady or whatever.’ But I’ve had the best time at Fox.” This skepticism stems from the fact that Brady was never seen as a future broadcaster throughout his 23 years in the NFL. However, he was eager to maintain his connection to football post-retirement, and Fox offered him a historic 10-year, $375 million contract to be their lead analyst. This came before he became a minority owner of the Raiders, providing him another avenue to stay linked to the NFL for life, irrespective of his broadcasting role.
“Behind the scenes there’s so many incredible people that bring the NFL to life,” Brady continued. “And to see kind of how it is from a different perspective… I’ve watched so many games from the sideline view and now I’m sitting up there in the booth observing from a new angle. I’ve enjoyed the entire process, exploring various teams, and it’s driven a lot of growth for me in just one year. I truly can’t wait to see what year two—and beyond—looks like. If Fox wants me, then I want to go. We’ll just keep going because it’s been really fun thus far.”
Cowherd inquired about Brady’s ownership stake in the Raiders and what it involved, but he did not touch on the NFL restrictions placed on Brady as a broadcaster or the potential conflict of interest concerns. There is no doubt that Brady is enjoying his time in the booth and appreciates working alongside Kevin Burkhardt. However, questions linger about his capacity to effectively balance both roles as an NFL analyst and an NFL owner.
