During the Houston Texans’ Wild Card victory over the Los Angeles Chargers on CBS, a fart sound unexpectedly aired while Ian Eagle was speaking. However, Eagle is eager to clarify that he wasn’t responsible for the incident.
Last Monday, WFAN’s afternoon show with Evan Roberts and Tiki Barber featured a segment discussing the fart sound that emerged during Eagle’s broadcast. Over a week later, Eagle joined Evan & Tiki to preview the upcoming New York Knicks-Brooklyn Nets game on TNT, beginning the interview by defending his reputation.

“I’ve been doing this a long time,” Eagle stated. “For the first time in my career, I received a text that began a flood of messages last week. I’m not sure if it originated on your show or had already gone viral, but I got a text proclaiming, ‘Tiki and Evan claim you farted on television.’ I was dumbfounded… I assure you it was not me.” Although Eagle’s denial is valued, Roberts and Barber had previously cleared him from this fartgate. According to Roberts, Eagle was seated, while his analyst, Charles Davis, was standing, suggesting that if there was a fart, it might have come from Davis’s direction.
“We did pretty much clear you of this,” Roberts told Eagle on Tuesday. “But we suspect it might have been Charles Davis.” To which Eagle responded, “I can’t speak for CD; he does indulge in some pretty gassy foods.” Despite the incident occurring during an NFL playoff game, the alleged fart did not go viral, and there was minimal social media buzz surrounding it. However, upon hearing the clip from last week, it does sound like a fart was emitted. Confident it wasn’t him, Eagle chose to pass on listening to the audio again.
