In the lead-up to the 2024 Presidential Election, LeBron James made it clear that he wouldn’t simply ‘shut up and dribble.’ The Los Angeles Lakers superstar publicly endorsed former Vice President Kamala Harris, stating, “What are we even talking about here?? When I think about my kids and my family and how they will grow up, the choice is clear to me. VOTE KAMALA HARRIS!!!” pic.twitter.com/tYYlTmQS6e

When reporters questioned him about his endorsement during the season, LeBron emphasized his conviction, stating, “I see where our country should be, I feel like that endorsement is only right.” This contrasts sharply with NFL player Nick Bosa, who faced backlash for his endorsement of Donald Trump. Bosa gained notoriety for wearing a MAGA hat during a postgame interview and later refused to discuss his support for Trump, prompting criticism. Although the league reportedly delayed fining Bosa for the incident until after the election, it highlights the stark differences in how public figures express their political beliefs.
LeBron James was unyielding in his support for Harris and even contributed through his business initiatives. In 2020, he and business partner Maverick Carter co-founded SpringHill Entertainment. Despite the company facing significant financial losses of $28 million in 2023, they were involved in the election campaign’s production efforts. Records indicate that the Harris campaign paid SpringHill $50,000 on January 28 for “campaign event production.” This connects LeBron to a network of high-profile entertainers contributing to the campaign, as evidenced by Beyoncé’s Parkwood Entertainment receiving $165,000 and Oprah Winfrey’s Harpo Productions being compensated $1 million.
While LeBron James may not have received payment for his endorsement of Harris, his company’s involvement signifies a financial connection to the campaign.
