In 2000, Tiger Woods had one of the most remarkable seasons in not just golf history, but in all sports. Fans will have the opportunity to revisit that iconic year with Tiger 2000, a PGA Tour Original production. A trailer was released on Friday through the Golf on CBS X (formerly Twitter) account, accompanied by the caption, “An exclusive, behind-the-scenes look at a season that may never be matched.”

The trailer features current interviews with Woods and his swing coach at the time, Butch Harmon. During the 2000 season, Woods emerged victorious in nine out of the 20 tournaments he entered, including three of the four major championships. His wins at the U.S. Open and Open Championship, alongside earlier successes at the 1997 Masters and 1999 PGA Championship, enabled him to achieve the career Grand Slam. Notably, his U.S. Open victory came by a record 15 strokes, while he set a then-record low score for any major at the Open Championship with a score of -19. Woods also triumphed in a thrilling playoff against Bob May to secure his second consecutive PGA Championship, completing three straight majors. He capped this success by winning the Masters in April 2001, finalizing the Tiger Slam.
Tiger’s dominance during this time often led to the perception among other golfers that the real competition was for second place, a sentiment echoed by his peers in the trailer. Davis Love III remarked, “A lot of times when I’d get out there on the golf course and I’m just like, ‘I got nothing for this guy.’” Rocco Mediate added, “It’s a whole different sport he played.” Tiger 2000 is set to air on Sunday, April 20, at 2 p.m. ET.
