Raiders GM Addresses Kolton Miller Situation

The Las Vegas Raiders have been making significant moves this offseason to quickly turn the team around. After hiring legendary football coach Pete Carroll as the organization’s new head coach, they traded with the Seahawks for veteran quarterback Geno Smith, who played under Carroll during his final days in Seattle. For Smith to have the successful season the Raiders are aiming for, it’s essential that he is supported by an offensive line capable of providing him with adequate time in the pocket. This makes the current contract dispute particularly surprising.

As reported by ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, “Raiders LT Kolton Miller is not currently participating in the voluntary offseason program as he seeks a contract extension. Miller, 29, is a seven-year starter and 2026 free agent. Las Vegas has not engaged in contract talks with the former first-round pick.” First-year general manager John Spytek addressed the situation during a joint press conference with Carroll but provided little clarity. “I’m just going to give you our answer and it’s going to be this going forward — we’re not going to discuss contracts publicly,” Spytek said, according to Pro Football Talk. He added that this is a voluntary part of the offseason program, allowing players the freedom to come and go as they wish.

It’s crucial for the Raiders to keep Miller happy and on the field if they aim to make swift improvements. Consequently, this situation has become one of the most captivating contract disputes in the league.
