Just minutes after his ejection, Chisholm entered the Yankees clubhouse and took to social media to express his grievances about the strike call, stating, “Not even f****** close.”

Despite Chisholm having a valid argument about the strike call, it was evident that MLB would act swiftly in reprimanding him for violating the league’s social media policy. Posting during a live game and criticizing umpires directly are both against the league’s regulations. Accordingly, the league announced a one-game suspension and a fine of an unspecified amount for Chisholm the following day, as first reported by Bob Nightengale of USA Today Sports.

Chisholm’s suspension did not take effect immediately, as he participated in the second game of the series against the Rays on Friday. He is reportedly appealing the MLB’s decision. Whether deemed fair or not, Chisholm has built a reputation for openly expressing his thoughts on social media without regard for the potential implications. This includes a recent back-and-forth with Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy over torpedo bats last month. This latest incident likely won’t quiet the discussions surrounding him, and moving forward, Chisholm may want to consider alternative ways to communicate his frustrations.
