Keith Hernandez Spews During Mets Broadcast

In an unexpected turn of events, New York Mets analyst Keith Hernandez made headlines for what he kept in his mouth rather than what he said. After years of capturing attention for his on-air commentary, Hernandez found himself in a humorous situation during the Mets game against the Twins in Minnesota on Tuesday night.

While reviewing a replay of Mets third baseman Mark Vientos fielding a grounder, Hernandez stumbled over his words, briefly saying, “excuse me” before pausing. Following “a little upchuck” mid-sentence, he and play-by-play voice Gary Cohen speculated on the possible culprit.

“You okay over there?” Cohen asked, to which Hernandez replied, “Yeah. I just had a little upchuck. A little upchuck,” he reiterated with a chuckle. “It just came out of nowhere, right in the middle of my sentence. Sorry. I apologize.”

In a rather bold move, SNY placed a camera on Hernandez in the booth, perhaps hoping for a viral moment or trusting his ability to manage the situation. Fortunately, Hernandez managed to keep the upchuck contained but it still raised a few eyebrows at the network.

Cohen probed into what Hernandez had eaten prior to the game. The Mets Hall-of-Famer replied, “chicken and mashed potatoes,” but noted that he didn’t blame the chicken; instead, he attributed the issue to vinaigrette from his salad. “The vinaigrette, you know how it could get ya roiled up,” Hernandez explained.

It seems a little Tums could resolve the issue. After experiencing an upchuck in the booth, Hernandez is expected to be back in action for the next game on Wednesday.
