Round 1 of the Masters began on Thursday at Augusta National. For those who prefer a lighter take on golf, Apple TV unveiled a sneak peek of their upcoming series ‘Stick’ featuring Owen Wilson. This new series, announced back in February, follows Wilson’s character, a “washed-up ex-pro golfer,” as he seeks to mentor the next big star of the sport.
The show’s trailer, shared on the Apple TV X account on Thursday, showcases Wilson attempting to persuade an amateur golfer to pursue a professional career.

This particular scene suggests that the show isn’t solely aimed at sports fans. However, for viewers seeking a more sports-focused experience, the series will also feature real-life golf personalities. Notably, PGA Tour golfers Collin Morikawa, Max Homa, Keegan Bradley, and Wyndham Clark, along with renowned golf broadcasters Jim Nantz and Trevor Immelman, will all make cameo appearances throughout the ten-episode first season.
Apple TV has had significant success with comedy-themed sports series, most notably with the hit show Ted Lasso, which revolves around a fictional soccer club in the English Premier League. It remains to be seen if Stick can achieve similar success in this genre, but given the high-profile personalities involved, it should attract considerable attention when it debuts on June 4.
