Sam Rosen Celebrated with Montage by ‘NHL on TNT’ Studio Team

As we near the conclusion of the 2024-25 NHL regular season, we also arrive at the impending farewell of renowned play-by-play announcer Sam Rosen. In light of this, TNT dedicated Wednesday’s broadcast of the New York Rangers versus Philadelphia Flyers game to celebrate Rosen’s remarkable career. He reunited with his former co-host, John Davidson, for this special NHL on TNT broadcast honoring Rosen as he prepares to retire at season’s end. Before the game commenced, the NHL on TNT Face Off studio crew paid tribute to Rosen by showcasing a montage of his most thrilling calls during saves made by former Rangers goaltender Henrik Lundqvist, who has been an analyst for TNT since 2023.

After sharing a few self-deprecating jokes, Lundqvist expressed his admiration for Rosen, noting how he and many other Rangers fans will genuinely miss the sound of Rosen’s voice narrating Rangers games. “I love that voice,” Lundqvist stated. “I know a lot of Rangers fans love that voice, too. Gonna miss it.”

Anyone deserving of such recognition is undoubtedly Sam Rosen, who will have dedicated 40 years to calling Rangers games by the end of this season. Although Rosen appears firm on his decision to retire, he has encouraged the Rangers to make a late-season push in hopes of extending his tenure with a postseason run. Unfortunately for Rangers fans, these aspirations seem increasingly dim as they head into Wednesday’s contest against the Flyers, trailing eight points behind the Montreal Canadiens for the second Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference.

While it appears Rosen’s broadcasting journey may conclude with the regular season, Lundqvist and Rangers fans will always cherish Rosen’s exceptional calls, especially his final national broadcast from Wednesday night.
