We know how Charles Barkley feels about the women of San Antonio, but how do the women of San Antonio feel about him? After decades of Barkley joking about the “big ol’ women” in San Antonio, the women finally seized their opportunity to respond this week while Barkley was in town for the NCAA men’s Final Four and championship game. TNT Sports arranged a mock episode of Pop The Balloon, hosted by Kenny Smith, allowing the women of San Antonio to voice their grievances against Barkley.
For those unfamiliar, Pop The Balloon is the newest dating game sensation that recently expanded to Netflix. Singles participate in rounds of speed dating, and if they’re dissatisfied, they can quickly end the date by popping a balloon. In Barkley’s segment of the game, the San Antonio women popped their balloons as soon as he walked in.
Following this, each woman provided reasons for rejecting Barkley, criticizing his physique, his love for churros, and his golf swing. However, the most notable jab concerned Barkley’s lack of championship titles. “Let’s be real, you don’t even have any rings,” one San Antonian remarked. “So I can’t trust that you’re gonna give me one if you don’t even have any.”

Barkley’s playful feud with the women of San Antonio stretches back nearly twenty years. Although it seemed the lighthearted rivalry might come to an end a few years ago when Barkley cited “cancel culture” for being targeted over his jokes, asserting that TNT executives desired to discontinue his remarks, the jests about the “big ol’ women” of San Antonio survived cancel culture. This past weekend, Barkley still quipped, ‘Y’all got some big b*tches here.’ While some San Antonio women may have liked to see Barkley retire the bit after two decades, the dating game segment revealed that at least a few are in on the joke.
