The 2024 college football season has concluded, and ESPN has already released its Way Too Early College Football Power Rankings for the 2025 season, naming Ohio State as the best team heading into next year. The 2024 National Champions will boast another impressive roster, which is a key reason behind their top ranking in these early power rankings.
“After winning the program’s third national championship since 2002, the Buckeyes are set to undergo some changes — but so are many other Big Ten contenders,” noted senior writer Mark Schlabach. He further praised transfer quarterback Julian Sayin and projected the team’s defense to remain formidable.
Although the Buckeyes will need to replace significant talent, their reload strategy is already in motion. With Jeremiah Smith on offense, all possibilities are open for Ohio State; he will only be a true sophomore next year, which is daunting considering his impressive performance as a freshman this past season.
Other contenders, including Texas, Penn State, Oregon, and Georgia, will also be vying for the title next year. For now, however, it’s Ohio State‘s time to shine.
