The Dallas Cowboys have faced considerable criticism from both media members and fans for their passive strategy in recent offseasons. NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah suggested a bold move for the Cowboys in the upcoming 2025 NFL Draft: trading up to secure Travis Hunter, a two-way star reminiscent of Deion Sanders, who helped the organization win a Super Bowl in 1995 during his five seasons with the team.
Although Cowboys fans are excited about Hunter, he is projected to be selected long before Dallas makes its No. 12 pick in April. In a post on X, Jeremiah expressed nostalgia for the Cowboys’ more aggressive and entertaining days, urging the team to trade up for Hunter with a simple declaration: “I miss the days when the Cowboys were aggressive & fun. Spice it up. Trade up for Travis Hunter.”

While Travis Hunter has significantly high expectations to match Deion Sanders’ impact in the NFL, he is indeed one of the most captivating draft prospects in years. His potential arrival could make an immediate difference on the Cowboys’ roster, whether on offense or defense. Last offseason, Jerry Jones notably stated that the Cowboys would be “all in” on enhancing their lineup to build a contender. However, that commitment faltered when the team passed on signing Derrick Henry in free agency, leading to harsh critiques that continue to echo.
If the Cowboys genuinely aim to make a significant move, trading up for a player like Travis Hunter would be a bold statement. Yet, given the franchise’s recent history, it’s unlikely that they will heed Jeremiah’s advice unless Jerry Jones experiences a remarkable shift in mindset.
