Oklahoma Appoints Senior Bowl Executive Jim Nagy as General Manager

Senior Bowl executive director Jim Nagy has been appointed general manager of football for the University of Oklahoma. He will be responsible for leading roster building, player evaluation, recruiting, and compensation.

Nagy has held his position with the Senior Bowl since 2018, overseeing player selection and evaluation for the annual college all-star game in Mobile, Alabama, and serving as an NFL Draft analyst for ESPN. His impressive track record in talent assessment previously caught the attention of the New York Jets, who interviewed him for their vacant general manager role. Before that, Nagy spent many years as an NFL scout.

Now, he brings his expertise in player evaluation to Norman, collaborating with head coach Brent Venables. The Sooners concluded last season with a 6-7 record in Venables’ third year at the helm. โ€œThis is a new era in intercollegiate athletics at one of the greatest college football programs in the country,โ€ Nagy stated. โ€œThe legacy of excellence that precedes my arrival is a testament to the leadership at OU and the universityโ€™s commitment to execute at a championship level. I am honored to bring my experience and work ethic to this program and am confident that through collaboration and effort, we can achieve excellent results. I am truly excited to get to Norman and begin our process with Coach Venables and his great staff.โ€

Oklahomaโ€™s gain creates a vacancy for the Senior Bowl, where Nagy has significantly enhanced the event’s reputation and visibility. โ€œJim has done so much for the city of Mobile and college football players across the country chasing their NFL dreams,โ€ Fox 10 Mobile sports anchor Emily Cochran posted on X. โ€œWeโ€™ll sure miss you down here @JimNagy_SB, but we wish you all the best! No one more deserving.โ€

Now, heโ€™ll focus on helping the Sooners pursue championships instead of draft stock.
