On Saturday, former NFL wide receiver and current NFL Network analyst Steve Smith, Sr. was accused of having an extramarital affair with a woman associated with the Baltimore Ravens Marching Band, reportedly by someone identifying himself as her husband. Smith, who has been married for 20 years, has not publicly responded to the claims. However, former Ravens tight end Shannon Sharpe is defending his friend.
During Sunday’s episode of Nightcap, Sharpe and co-host Chad Johnson reviewed a video featuring a man named Tony Martinez allegedly informing Smith about the affair, to which Smith reportedly responds with an “I’m sorry.” Sharpe, who has faced his own social media controversies, remarked that if Martinez is indeed upset, he should address the issue privately with his wife. “I don’t know the gentleman’s name, but this is a situation you need to resolve with your wife,” he stated, emphasizing that the loyalty lies with her.

Sharpe continued, “I’ve known Smitty for 20 years. He was just at my Super Bowl party, and we had a great conversation. I love the guy. He plays hard, but bro, you need to handle this with your wife. Smitty owes you no loyalty. She has the loyalty clause; it’s her obligation to you.”
The Twitter user Tony Martinez (@Lambeaughini) has since deleted his account, leaving the initial allegations only available through screenshots and saved videos. We will see if either NFL Network or Smith offers a public response to these allegations.
