There’s a new twist in the ongoing saga involving Barstool Sports founder, owner, and CEO Dave Portnoy and Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, with Brittany Mahomes now entering the fray. Portnoy recently claimed that Brittany played a crucial role in the cancellation of a planned fight under Barstool’s affiliated Rough N Rowdy boxing promotion, which was set to feature former MLB pitchers John Rocker and Patrick Mahomes Sr., the father of Mahomes.
Portnoy made these allegations during Friday’s episode of Barstool’s The Unnamed Show, starting around the 30:19 mark:
In the segment, following a discussion about how “The Breast Draft was censored from greatness,” Portnoy remarked, “I’m not going to jail.” Co-host Kirk Minihane then referenced Mahomes Sr.’s legal troubles, stating, “You know who might go to jail, by the way, for his 97 f*cking drunk driving arrests (it’s actually three) is Pat Mahomes Sr. Giving this f*cking scumbag money is not…” Portnoy quickly interjected, “No, this fight’s canceled.” He claimed to have had no connection to the Super Bowl LIX Bourbon Street fight, which served as a promotional stunt and led to additional legal issues for Mahomes Sr., while placing the blame squarely on Brittany: “They came to us to do this. Like, how would we ever come up with this concept, ‘Oh, let’s put John Rocker vs. Pat Mahomes Sr?’ Who would ever think of that? They came to us, said they hated each other and wanted to fight. Mahomes’ agent, the football player, and Brittany, from what I am told, intervened, and was like ‘There’s no way this fight’s happening. We’re going to cut this guy off if he does it.’ So it’s canceled.”
This led to further discussions about the ongoing tension between Mahomes and Barstool. Minihane remarked, “Mahomes is still pulling this bullsh*t. What a p*ssy.” Portnoy responded, “I don’t know why he hates us, by the way. Why, because your wife acted like an a**hole and we said she did, and your brother was dancing on Sean Taylor’s tombstone at his dedication, doing a TikTok dance, and we said you probably shouldn’t do that? We’ve been fair, fair to them. And then Taylor [Lewan] said we called her a b*tch, and I’m like ‘No, we didn’t. Go find me that quote, Taylor.’ …He’s like ‘You called her a b*tch,’ and I’m like ‘Did we?’ Maybe we did, actually, back in the day. I don’t know.” The conversation also touched on their past criticisms of Brittany Mahomes, including her infamous champagne-spraying incident on fans in 2022.
It’s noteworthy that the Mahomes-Rocker fight is not happening, at least not on Barstool’s platforms. Portnoy previously mentioned last year how their Rough N’ Rowdy fights needed to attract more PPV buys, and given the significant names involved in this matchmaking, it’s a significant cancellation. Portnoy’s open attribution of the fight’s cancellation to Brittany Mahomes signals that the Mahomes-Barstool drama will likely continue to unfold.
