Bill Belichick spent the past year in an unfamiliar role, stepping away from coaching to become an NFL analyst. Fans witnessed a different side of him—more candid and relaxed—but that chapter officially closed Wednesday night as he signed off from Inside the NFL for the final time. Joining the show this season alongside Ryan Clark, Chris Long, and Chad Johnson, he was widely praised for his ability to break down film with the meticulous approach that defined his 29-year coaching career. His insights, dry humor, and newfound comfort in front of the camera provided fans with a fresh perspective on the legendary coach.
With the NFL season now over, the show wrapped up its final episode by reflecting on Super Bowl LVIII. At the end of the broadcast, Belichick bid farewell, expressing gratitude for the experience. “Fellas, I can’t tell you how much I enjoyed being with you this year on Inside the NFL,” said Belichick. “This was a great year for me and I appreciate you welcoming me in.” Clark, who returned for a second season with the show, echoed this sentiment, saying, “Coach, it was amazing. The chemistry was remarkable, and we became friends. I respect you immensely for your dedication to being here each week, prepared, and doing your best despite having other responsibilities.”
Long also praised Belichick, stating, “Coach, thanks a lot; I want to echo Ryan’s sentiments. You didn’t have to engage for the whole year, but you were a blast, just like when you were coaching. A lot of people don’t realize that. I had a lot of fun with you two—never a dull moment. Thanks for pushing me in football; what a year it’s been!”
Johnson kept it simple, telling Belichick it was “always a joy” to work with him. “Hey coach, you know how I feel about you. I appreciate our long-standing friendship and our great battles. It’s wonderful to be on the same team again. Your preparedness and insight allowed the world to see the jovial side of Belichick, the side I always knew. It’s been a joy working with you.”

Only time will tell if Belichick might return to a role in sports media after his stint at UNC. However, he certainly transformed much of the narrative fans held about him as a person during his illustrious coaching career.
