Lions Appoint Tashard Choice as Their New Running Backs Coach

The Detroit Lions have made a significant addition to their coaching staff by hiring former Dallas Cowboys running back Tashard Choice as their new running backs coach. Choice, a sought-after name in coaching circles, has successfully transitioned into the field after his playing career. He previously served as the running backs coach for the Texas Longhorns, who reached the College Football Playoff semifinals this past year.

CBS Sports’ Matt Zenitz reported the news on the hire, stating, “The Detroit Lions are expected to hire Texas’ Tashard Choice as their new running backs coach.” With a history of coaching Detroit running back Jahmyr Gibbs at Georgia Tech from 2019 to 2021, Choice brings valuable familiarity that the team can leverage to their advantage.

This past season, Detroit experienced one of its best regular seasons in franchise history, winning the NFC North for the second consecutive year after over 30 years without a division title, the last of which was in the NFC Central. Although the Lions faced challenges in the playoffs, losing to Jayden Daniels and the upstart Washington team, Dan Campbell and the Lions are expected to pursue further success. With a thriving team culture and positive momentum, Detroit looks ahead to what 2025 may have in store for them.
