Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce is faced with a significant decision regarding his playing future. All indications suggest that the future Hall of Famer is taking his time to contemplate his next steps. This is no simple choice for the veteran Kelce, who has had one of the most remarkable careers a tight end could hope for, winning three Super Bowls since 2019 and earning numerous Pro Bowl and All-Pro selections. He’s also recognized as one of the league’s most iconic players, not to mention his relationship with a billionaire pop star.
Despite the uncertainty, one of Kelce’s teammates remains optimistic about his return for the 2025 NFL season. Defensive end Charles Omenihu shared his thoughts on FS1’s The Facility, conveying that Kelce is not ready to hang up his cleats just yet. “I think Trav has a lot left,” Omenihu stated via PFT. “I think Trav is an extreme competitor, he loves the game, and in his storied career, going out like that wouldn’t be something he would choose. So, I believe that he’ll be back; I believe he’ll give it one more go.”
Kelce is coming off a season marked by career lows in various performance metrics in 2024. Although Patrick Mahomes frequently targeted him, Kelce struggled to maintain the same level of productivity and efficiency he boasted in previous years. This has led to widespread speculation about whether he might retire, especially considering that there’s little left for him to prove.
