The NBA on NBC is making its much-anticipated return next season and is gradually assembling its talent roster. One of the biggest stars of the modern era, Carmelo Anthony, is the latest addition. A 2025 nominee for the Basketball Hall of Fame, Anthony not only won a national championship with Syracuse but also enjoyed a remarkable 19-year NBA career. While his achievements may not have matched those of fellow rookies Dwyane Wade and LeBron James, they certainly speak to his legacy.
As a 10-time All-Star and 6-time All-NBA performer with the Denver Nuggets and New York Knicks, Carmelo sits 10th on the NBA’s all-time scoring list. Now, he will bring his extensive experience to NBC as a studio analyst, according to Andrew Marchand at The Athletic. It will be intriguing to see the insights he delivers in the studio. Much like Amazon’s hires of Dirk Nowitzki and Blake Griffin, NBC is embracing a fresh direction, providing a much-needed perspective from those who played in the 2010s and 2020s.
Carmelo Anthony marks the first confirmed name for NBC’s studio coverage. The network’s lead broadcast booth is expected to include Mike Tirico, Reggie Miller, and Jamal Crawford, with Noah Eagle likely taking on a key play-by-play role. It would be surprising if Dwyane Wade does not join him, given their successful collaboration during the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.
NBC also has a potential studio host in Maria Taylor, and with Jalen Rose hired for college basketball coverage, he could easily transition to cover the pro game as well. If these individuals form the foundation for the NBA’s return to NBC, the peacock network seems to be in capable hands.
