Dave Portnoy Reacts Strongly to Braxton Berrios’ Snub by Barstool

We might live in an era where brands like Barstool Sports dominate cultural discussions, but this doesn’t imply that everyone wants to align themselves with it. Although some acknowledge that interacting with the Barstool brand is a crucial aspect of contemporary dialogue, Patrick Mahomes recently suggested he was more open to appearing on Bussin’ With the Boys now that the podcast has moved away from the company, indicating he’s not alone in wanting to detach from the bro-centric sports media brand.

Barstool owner Dave Portnoy recently delivered a tirade after Miami Dolphins wide receiver Braxton Berrios was scheduled to participate in two of the company’s podcasts but canceled at the last moment. “Braxton Berrios was supposed to be on both those podcasts,” Portnoy stated on Barstool Live this week. “He said he’d do it. He was confirmed to do it. Two hours before, his team reached out to our PR to say that Braxton Berrios will not work with Barstool. His personal team is preventing him.

“That infuriates me. I hate that. If you don’t want to do it, just say so… Put your name on it and say Braxton Berrios doesn’t want to do it—not your team. I was trying to get in touch to say, ‘What the f*ck are you doing?’”

It’s important to point out that those experienced in media understand that guests often cancel for various reasons (we manage multiple podcasts and are fully aware of this). Additionally, most entertainers and athletes rely on representatives to schedule their media appearances, which is quite standard. Regarding Berrios’s representatives claiming he will not associate with Barstool, we lean towards Portnoy’s account, although it’s possible there was some miscommunication. If that’s true, it likely isn’t the first occasion such a sentiment has been expressed by potential guests.

Notably, he did guest on Barstool’s Mush the Line in 2022, suggesting he hasn’t always been against it. With the Dolphins wideout building his own social media presence, partly influenced by girlfriend Alix Earle, there may be some reputation management in play. Whether this decision stems from him or his representatives remains uncertain.
