The New Orleans Saints began the season as one of the league’s top offenses, boasting a promising 2-0 record. However, their performance quickly declined, leading to a disappointing finish of 5-12 and missing the playoffs. This rocky season has opened a head coaching position, prompting a search that has officially commenced, as reported by NFL insider Jonathan Jones.
“The Saints resume their coaching search today with virtual interviews featuring Bills OC Joe Brady and Saints interim HC/STC Darren Rizzi,” reported CBS Sports’ Jonathan Jones. He clarified that while Brady’s interview will be virtual, Rizzi’s will be in person since he is already employed by the Saints. Jones humorously mentioned that the distinction between virtual and in-person interviews may finally push him to invest in an edit button.
Fans took to social media to express their thoughts on the developments. One tweeted, “Virtual? Get Brady in-house and tell him we want a Super Bowl,” while another asked, “How have they not interviewed Rizzi yet lol,” given Rizzi’s existing role within the organization. A fan raised a concern regarding Brady’s current position as offensive coordinator for the Buffalo Bills, stating, “I don’t have a solution, but I hate an OC interviewing with another team for HC… 50 hours before a playoff game. No matter what they say, NOBODY can be 100% focused with a life-changing event in your subconscious. I’m not blaming Brady or the Saints. But that doesn’t make it right.”
It will be intriguing to see whether either Brady or Rizzi lands the head coaching position.
