The Green Bay Packers have a wealth of talent, but one standout player believes the team would benefit from even more. Under the leadership of quarterback Jordan Love, who has brought the Packers to the playoffs in both of his seasons, the team is looking to build further. Love took over from the legendary Aaron Rodgers and has demonstrated impressive consistency.
Although the Packers boast a group of impressive wide receivers, they lack a clear ‘No. 1’ wide receiver. Running back Josh Jacobs has voiced his desire for the team to rectify this gap, stating, “I think we need another D-end. I think we need another DB. And I think we need a wide receiver,” during an appearance on PFT Live. He continued, “I love the guys that we have in the receiving room. They all have the potential to be [a No.] 1. But we need a guy that’s proven to be [a No.] 1.”
Last season, the Packers’ receivers Dontayvion Wicks, Jayden Reed, and Romeo Doubs were the top three targets, but none surpassed Wicks’ tally of 76 targets. In contrast, their rivals, the Minnesota Vikings, showcased Jordan Addison and Justin Jefferson with 99 and 154 targets, highlighting a disparity in proven talent.
During the era of Davante Adams, the Packers undeniably had a true No. 1 receiver, who was among the elite in the league. Since his departure, although there have been noteworthy performances, no one has yet emerged as the standout star in Green Bay.
Jacobs’ suggestion may resonate with many Packers fans; however, Green Bay has not always taken an aggressive approach like some other teams in the league. It remains to be seen whether the Packers will act on their star player’s recommendations.
