The New York Jets are aiming for a significant culture reset following two challenging years marked by the Aaron Rodgers experience. Rodgers’ first season with the team was famously cut short after he ruptured his Achilles in the initial series of the year. Fortunately, he was healthy during his second season with the franchise; however, it didn’t yield much improvement as the Jets finished 5-12, missing the playoffs even after acquiring star receiver Devante Adams, Rodgers’s former teammate from the Green Bay Packers.
Mid-season, head coach Robert Saleh was let go, leading to the hiring of former Detroit Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn in the offseason. Glenn is currently focused on assembling his staff, and according to a notable league insider, he has secured his defensive coordinator. “Sources: The (Jets) are hiring former NFL head coach and highly respected defensive coordinator Steve Wilks as their new DC under Aaron Glenn. This was a key priority for Glenn, who values Wilks’ experience, energy and ability to help establish the culture Glenn envisions,” reported FOX Sports’ Jordan Schultz on Wednesday.

Fans shared their opinions on social media regarding the hiring. “As I’ve posted many times before, Wilks got a raw deal in Arizona.. He’s a very good coach,” one fan expressed on Twitter. Another chimed in, stating, “Good hire. Dude was robbed of a head job a few years back.” A third fan added, “Aaron Glenn is building a great staff.” It will be intriguing to see how quickly Glenn and his team can turn things around.
