Jets Coach Challenges Aaron Rodgers Directly

The Aaron Rodgers experience in New York has been a brutal one. After a tragic start to his first season with the New York Jets, where he ruptured his Achilles in just the first series, his second season saw him play all 17 games. The Jets even traded for his former Green Bay Packers teammate, Devante Adams, yet the team still struggled significantly.

Ultimately, the Jets finished the season with a disappointing record of 5-12, missing the playoffs and marking what many consider the worst campaign of Rodgers’s distinguished career. This tumultuous season led to the firing of Jets head coach Robert Saleh mid-way through, followed by interim coach Jeff Ulbrich. In the off-season, New York appointed Detroit Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn as their new head coach.

While Rodgers has been taking his time considering retirement, it appears Glenn is eager to reach a resolution without letting Rodgers hold the franchise hostage. Reportedly, “Aaron Glenn plans to meet with Aaron Rodgers in the hopes of reaching a resolution ‘much sooner than later,’” as stated by Pro Football Talk on Monday.

Fans reacted on social media, expressing various opinions. One wrote, “Aaron Rodgers needs to go to a team that has more pieces and is ‘win now’. Unfortunately, those opportunities may have passed him. He would do really well on a team like 49ers, Vikings, Dolphins, etc. in my opinion.” Another fan commented, “If Glenn knew what’s good for him, he would get him out of there right away. That guy is an organization killer.” Further adding, “Yeah, I’m sure Aaron is real excited about having a defensive coordinator as head coach. The good news is…it seems over for Rodgers anyway.”

It’ll be interesting to see if Glenn spurns Rodgers toward retirement.
