Philadelphia Eagles coach Nick Sirianni addressed quarterback Jalen Hurts’ critics following the team’s impressive 55-23 victory over the Washington Commanders in the NFC Championship, securing their spot in the Super Bowl. During a postgame interview with Fox Sports’ Terry Bradshaw, Sirianni offered enthusiastic praise for Hurts: “How about our quarterback? He’s a stud! I knew he was going to play that way! Don’t doubt him. All he does is win!”

While coaches typically laud their quarterbacks after significant victories, Sirianni’s remarks also seemed directed at those who have doubted Hurts in recent months. Following A.J. Brown’s comments about the need for improvement in the Eagles’ passing game after a win against the Carolina Panthers, many critics shifted the blame to Hurts. ESPN’s Alex Smith described the passing game as “abysmal,” accusing Hurts of missing numerous opportunities and being “risk-adverse.” Furthermore, ESPN’s Domonique Foxworth criticized Hurts more personally, suggesting that he benefitted from “pretty privilege.” Foxworth remarked, “He got up at the press conference after the game, and he acted like he was Josh Allen… Look at this man with his Kangol looking like Nino Brown… with three thousand million trillion dollars worth of diamonds on his neck.” Earlier in the season, Dan Orlovsky from ESPN labeled Hurts a “liability” for the Eagles.
Although Sirianni didn’t call out any specific media figures during his press conference, his frustration was evident: “It’s amazing how much doubt there is sometimes, I can’t quite comprehend it. It doesn’t look like people think it should look like. But the guy has been clutch and he’s won a ton of football games.”

Hurts’ stats may not be flashy this season, with just 2,903 yards and 18 touchdowns, yet Sirianni emphasized that winning is all that matters. “We don’t care how we win,” he said. “If we rush for 300 and pass for 1 and we win, great… who cares? We just continue to win, he just continues to win, and I think the criticism is — whatever. He just wins, and that’s kind of how I feel.”
