Ohio State Buckeyes superstar freshman wide receiver Jeremiah Smith has emerged as possibly the most dominant wide receiver in the nation toward the end of his first college football season. With teams eager to entice him away, reports from college football insider Pete Nakos of On3 indicate that Smith is being offered between $4.5 million and $5 million to transfer from Ohio State. Despite these offers, Nakos notes that Ohio State “is ready to do whatever it needs to hold onto Smith.”
As the top-rated player in the 2024 high school recruiting class, Smith showcased his prowess during Ohio State’s playoff run, amassing 381 receiving yards and five touchdowns over four games. His standout performance has led several NFL Draft analysts to claim that he would be the No. 1 overall pick in this year’s NFL Draft if eligible, despite still being just an 18-year-old freshman.
Smith is not the only player receiving attention, as Nakos also reports that fellow wide receiver Carnell Tate has garnered offers exceeding $1 million, while cornerback Jermain Mathews has drawn significant interest in the transfer market. The upcoming weeks will reveal whether the Buckeyes can retain all of these talented players.
