Adam Lefkoe Bids Heartfelt Farewell to NBA on TNT Tuesday

As the NBA regular season wraps up, so does TNT Sports’ Tuesday night coverage of the league, which has been part of the network for five years. TNT will soon bid farewells to the NBA as they finalize their 35-year partnership. The first farewell occurred this week when Adam Lefkoe, Shaquille O’Neal, Candace Parker, and Vince Carter signed off the NBA on TNT Tuesday Night franchise for the last time. Lefkoe’s emotional goodbye echoed the sentiments shared by the team.

“It takes an army to put this show on and it ends up being your family. And I’m going to try to keep it together right now,” Lefkoe remarked, jokingly requesting TNT to avoid giving him a solo shot. He expressed his gratitude to the crew, stating, “When we’re in the makeup room, it feels like a cookout and we love every single one back there. I remember my first time hosting—I thought it would be a smooth ride, but they said, ‘no.’ You quickly learn that’s how it is here, and I thank all of you who work beautifully and diligently.”

Launched in February 2020, the NBA on TNT Tuesday Night franchise faced an unconventional start after being delayed to accommodate a tribute to Kobe Bryant following his death, one month before the league was halted due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite these challenges, the show found its rhythm and carved out its unique identity over five successful years, ultimately concluding as Warner Bros. Discovery could not secure a deal with the league to continue airing games on TNT.

While Inside the NBA will persist through a licensing agreement with ESPN starting next season, this week’s conclusion marks the end of the NBA on TNT Tuesday Night era. “This has been a dream gig,” Lefkoe concluded. “I can’t believe we’ve been doing this for five years.”
