Following the unexpected passing of announcer and former NHL player Greg Millen, Sportsnet in Canada chose not to air the NHL game on Monday between the Calgary Flames and San Jose Sharks. David Amber of Sportsnet paid tribute to Millen, recalling him as a “loving husband,” a “beloved father” to his four children, and “a friend to all of us” known for his sharp humor and passion for the sport.
“Greg loved life, loved his family and loved hockey,” Amber shared. “And we loved him. In honor of Greg’s family, his fans, and colleagues, Sportsnet will not be producing a Flames telecast tonight. Instead, we will air the San Jose Sharks broadcast of the game. Rest in peace, Greg.”
