Many critics argue that NIL has spiraled out of control in college basketball; however, it’s hard not to appreciate a system that allows even Bennett Andersen to potentially earn significant money. You may not know “Buckets” Andersen, the former walk-on for the Florida Gators who gained fame following his viral interview with student reporter Talia Baia after the Gators’ Sweet 16 victory over Maryland. In the video posted by Baia, many viewers noted that Andersen appeared a bit starstruck.

As fate would have it, Andersen and Baia crossed paths again at the Final Four. Baia shared a clip of their encounter on X, saying, “All right, we’re here with the viral sensation, Bennett Andersen. How does it feel to be under that type of spotlight?” To which Andersen humorously replied, “Pretty weird. I’m standing up this time so I can beat the allegations. It’s been pretty funny; I just gotta enjoy it for what it is. Only gonna be famous for like a week, so I’ll take it.”

The duo is seizing their moment of fame by launching NIL T-shirts featuring a cartoon image from their interview. The Bennett “BUCKETS” Andersen + Talia NIL tee retails for $35.
Before you know it, both Andersen and Baia may find themselves in the transfer portal.
