Keith Hernandez was caught on a hot mic Wednesday night during the 10th inning, criticizing the poor hitting performance of both the New York Mets and Miami Marlins. As the SNY broadcast transitioned to the 11th inning, the camera displayed a wide-angle view of LoanDepot Park, where Hernandez could be heard grumbling, “Piss-poor hitting.”

The moment felt even more surreal as the upbeat SNY bumper music began to play moments later, while play-by-play announcer Gary Cohen cheerfully read an announcement for sponsor Infiniti: “New York Mets baseball on SNY is brought to you by Infiniti. Experience the Infiniti lineup at your local retailer today.” Two quick observations emerged: many fans questioned if it was indeed a hot mic moment, or just something Hernandez could have said during the game. Regardless, he had a valid point; the 10th inning was a disaster for both teams. The Mets had runners on first and third with no outs but managed to produce three weakly hit balls leading to outs. The Marlins, starting with an automatic runner Dane Myers at third, failed to capitalize after he was thrown out at home on a grounder, resulting in no runs scored.
This lackluster performance led to speculation that Hernandez actually said “piss-poor inning” instead of hitting.
he said “inning” not hitting but still hilarious nonetheless
