Alex Caruso has never felt so free in his life, and it’s all thanks in part to Scott Van Pelt, the man who has made being bald cooler than ever. While having a luscious head of hair certainly has its perks, I must admit I can’t relate. I’d need to ask my father, who has embraced the bald look since his 20s, about that. He shares more in common with Van Pelt and now, it seems, Caruso than the author of this article.
Chet Holmgren joined SportsCenter with Van Pelt after Oklahoma City’s 119-103 victory over the Detroit Pistons, scoring 22 points and grabbing 11 boards. His teammate and likely MVP, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, also showcased his skills, much to the dismay of Pistons announcer George Blaha. In any case, after the game, Holmgren was chilling on the bench next to Caruso.
SVP, sensing an opportunity — albeit a risky one — seized the moment. “This is a risky move on live television, but could you throw the headset on A.C. and freshen his head real quick?” Van Pelt asked. “I got to ask him a quick question.” Caruso was thrilled to engage with his bald “brother.”
“This is your boy, Scott Van Pelt,” the longtime SportsCenter anchor began. “This is very important. You’re not Chet Holmgren, but the people at home get it. I just want to tell you how proud I am of you for embracing the bald lifestyle. There was a time when there was a question mark, but you’ve gone full-on bald guy. I hope you feel liberated and happy.”
“I’m the freest I’ve ever been, Scott,” Caruso replied. “But we’ve got beef, though. You just took our basketball coach.”

Caruso’s newfound freedom aligns perfectly with the bald brotherhood he has officially joined. However, he might have a slight issue with the president of this bald club, especially if SVP’s Terps keep swiping coaches from his alma mater.
