TNT Sports is preparing for a major transition as it shifts away from NBA coverage after the 2024-25 season, putting tennis in the spotlight for two weeks. Beginning in 2025, TNT will air the French Open as part of a substantial 10-year, $650 million deal, making headlines with its recent developments, as reported by Andrew Marchand. Among the highlights, eight-time Grand Slam champion Andre Agassi will join the network’s French Open coverage as a studio commentator. With a history of big-name hires, TNT is clearly aiming high, and Agassi’s legendary status in tennis speaks for itself.
The announcing team will include Brian Anderson for play-by-play and John McEnroe as the lead analyst. Although McEnroe’s agent, Gary Swain, mentioned last year that he isn’t seeking media fame, he is now adding the French Open to an impressive resume that already includes commentary for the US Open, Wimbledon, and the Australian Open on ESPN. Teaming up with Agassi in the studio will be Adam Lefkoe, while Ernie Johnson, who was part of the Turner team that covered Wimbledon over two decades ago, will not be involved in the French Open broadcast, leaving Lefkoe to step in.
According to Marchand, TNT is also in discussions with Jim Courier and Lindsay Davenport, among other analysts, to join the coverage alongside Agassi, signaling that TNT is committed to making a significant impact in the tennis realm.
TNT is clearly serious about its entry into the tennis world, bringing out the big names for this ambitious venture.
