Kyle Larson is gearing up once again for a challenging Memorial Day weekend, attempting to race in both the Indy 500 and the Coca-Cola 600 on the same day, and this time, he’s joined by Amazon Prime Video. Hendrick Motorsports announced on Tuesday that Prime Video will sponsor Larson’s No. 5 NASCAR Cup Series Chevrolet and No. 17 Arrow McLaren IndyCar Chevrolet during the races on May 25.
Prime Video will have a crew capturing a feature-length documentary on Larson’s journey, with production already underway since October 2023. This project was initially slated to coincide with Larson’s double-duty attempt last May, although rain delayed the Indy 500’s start. Larson finished 18th in his IndyCar debut but had to forgo the Coca-Cola 600 due to arriving late in Charlotte, as that event was also affected by rain. The documentary will follow Larson’s efforts throughout 2024 and this year, with hopes that weather conditions permit him to tackle the demanding challenge of covering 1,100 miles of racing in one day, separated by several hundred miles of travel.
Stacey Rosenson, head of U.S. Sports Marketing for Prime Video, emphasized that the Coca-Cola 600 will mark Prime Video’s inaugural NASCAR Cup Series broadcast. This is part of NASCAR’s new seven-year, $7.7 billion media rights agreement which began this year. Prime Video will stream five NASCAR Cup races, starting with the Charlotte event, and has been carrying most practice and qualifying events in the season’s first half. “Kyle’s double attempt is one of the most exciting storylines in all of sports, and we’re thrilled to be part of it,” said Rosenson. “As we broadcast our first NASCAR Cup Series race with the Coca-Cola 600, witnessing and documenting this historic moment live on Prime Video is a unique opportunity. We can’t wait to sponsor Kyle’s effort and share the intensity and emotion that accompany it.”
Ready to take on the Indy 500-Coca-Cola 600 challenge again, Larson expressed his enthusiasm: “Last year gave us a great foundation, and now we get to build on it. I’m excited to come back stronger in 2025 and give it everything we’ve got to finish all 1,100 miles. Having Prime Video on board — especially with them streaming the 600 and documenting my whole experience — is pretty special. May is going to be a crazy month, and I’m ready to get after it.” The documentary is expected to be released in 2026 and is directed by Emmy and Peabody Award-winning filmmaker Cynthia Hill, produced by Markay Media, Imagine Documentaries, and Hendrick Motorsports in association with NASCAR Studios and Penske Entertainment.
