The Chicago Bears are aiming to regain their competitive edge and contend for a title with the help of talented young quarterback and former Heisman Trophy winner Caleb Williams. As he begins his second year in the NFL, Williams will be guided by a new head coach after the Bears decided to hire former Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson this offseason. The decision was made quickly, as Bears CEO Kevin Warren revealed, “Within 10 minutes of the interview, I knew right then. He was so passionate, absolutely brilliant, smart, tough, and demanding. Though I had never spoken with him before, I felt in my heart that he was the right person to lead the Chicago Bears.”
Warren also shared that he felt confident in Johnson’s abilities after speaking with former players he had coached. “I made calls to individuals he coached at Miami, Detroit, and other locations to really gauge what he’s like in the meeting rooms. Everyone echoed similar sentiments: he’s brilliant, a hard worker, demanding, tough, keeps everyone accountable, but most importantly, he’s a genuinely good person. You win in this business with good people.” It will be intriguing to see how Warren’s insights play out for Chicago.
