USA Today columnist Nancy Armour is known for speaking her mind on today’s pressing issues. In her recent columns, she has stirred significant conversation surrounding transgender athletes, Aaron Rodgers’ legacy, the excitement over Taylor Swift’s appearances at NFL games, and the “toxic cesspool” of X. As a result, she frequently encounters harsh criticism but interprets it as validation of her viewpoints.
In a recent episode of Good Game with Sarah Spain, Armour discussed how she feels when targeted by critics like conservative media figure Megyn Kelly and Fox News’ Greg Gutfeld. “USA Today sports columnist @nrarmour.bsky.social talks being called ‘a goddamned national disgrace,’ the potential impact of JuJu Watkins’ injury on the NCAA tournament, and how media coverage of women’s sports has evolved throughout her career.”

When Sarah Spain inquired about her reaction to Megyn Kelly and Greg Gutfeld criticizing her column on South Carolina coach Dawn Staley’s support for trans athletes, Armour praised Staley as a “goddamn national treasure” for advocating that transgender athletes “should be able to play” in collegiate women’s basketball. Following this, Kelly labeled Armour as “a goddamn national disgrace.”
Armour expressed, “I consider it a badge of honor. If I’m upsetting them, I must be doing something right. It’s always strange when someone mentions watching Fox News, and I think, ‘Oh no, please.’ I’ve largely stopped caring. It varies based on my caffeine intake, but mostly, I do not care because I believe I stand on the right side of history on these issues, even if it frustrates me that others haven’t caught up yet.” She concluded, “If the Megyn Kellys of the world don’t like it, I don’t much care.”
