Brian McKenna, a prominent St. Louis sportscaster known for his charity work, passed away Saturday at the age of 61. His body was found around 1 a.m. at the intersection of Hampton Avenue and Nottingham Avenue after police responded to reports of a pedestrian being struck by a car. McKenna lived in the vicinity, and the driver involved remained on the scene, cooperating with authorities.
For more than two decades, McKenna was a sports radio host on KFNS 590 The Fan and frequently appeared on KSDK’s “Sports Plus.” However, his influence extended beyond sports; he became an integral figure in the St. Louis community, emceeing numerous charity events and serving as the brand ambassador for the St. Louis Hero Network, a nonprofit supporting local first responders and military families. He also fought valiantly against cancer, with the community raising over $125,000 to assist with his medical expenses. Reflecting on the support he received, McKenna stated, “My favorite saying in life is, your vibe attracts your tribe. If I am putting out this type of vibe, I am the luckiest man on the face of the earth.”
The St. Louis community is mourning the loss of McKenna, expressing their condolences on social media.

Rest In Peace Brian my friend, and former radio colleague. You were a stand-up kind-hearted soul. Labeling this a tragedy is an understatement. Wishing love to your family and friends. You are already greatly missed. https://t.co/5ehkwi8XFk

The last ten times Brian McKenna came to our radio station it was to promote a charity. That is exactly how he lived his life: helping others. Anybody who knew him loved him. He will be missed! pic.twitter.com/gCmVK2gw4V

So sad to hear about the passing of Brian McKenna. Every time he came on the radio with us the last several years he was always promoting a local charity. Just a good, fun dude.
