The era of the superconference has arrived in March Madness. For the first time, the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 features teams solely from four major conferences: the SEC, Big Ten, Big XII, and ACC. The SEC leads with seven teams, while the Big Ten follows with four. Although Cinderella stories may seem absent, CBS and Warner Bros. Discovery are likely pleased to see heavyweights like Duke and Kentucky, along with other fan-favorite programs such as Michigan and Florida, in the mix.
CBS and TNT Sports have announced the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 schedule for Thursday and Friday nights, featuring two games at a time. One regional matchup will be aired on CBS, while another is simulcast on TBS and truTV each night. Remarkably, only the top four broadcast teams are scheduled. In a surprising twist, their premier broadcast team of Ian Eagle, Grant Hill, and Bill Raftery will not be following the Duke Blue Devils; instead, Brian Anderson and Jim Jackson will cover the East regional semifinals on Thursday. Eagle’s team will cover the South region featuring top overall seed Auburn and Michigan State, while Kevin Harlan’s crew heads west for Florida’s showdown. Lastly, Andrew Catalon and Steve Lappas will commentate the Midwest regional games on Friday.
