Adam Hadwin Takes Down Sprinkler at Valspar, Sprinkler Fights Back

One key trait that separates pro golfers from weekend duffers is the calmness with which they handle bad shots; they quickly pivot to planning their next move. However, Adam Hadwin didn’t quite adhere to this principle. After a poor shot on the 10th hole during the Valspar Championship at Innisbrook’s Copperhead Course, he expressed his frustration by smashing his club into the ground, only to accidentally hit a sprinkler head, shattering it and releasing jets of water that soaked him and nearby fans.

Apologizing to the fans, Hadwin attempted to manage the chaos. Amused onlookers watched as he tried to mitigate the situation—first by stepping on the broken sprinkler and then attempting to piece it back together. Eventually kneeling beside the mess, he appeared either embarrassed or determined to fix the high-pressure leak. The 37-year-old Canadian ended up with a double bogey but gained the notoriety of a viral video.

Hadwin wasn’t the only pro losing his composure at Valspar. Sahith Theegala also had a moment of frustration during Friday’s round, as he threw his club after hitting his third bogey in six holes and subsequently pushing a shot into a bunker.

Remember, pros, always keep your cool. You wouldn’t want weekend duffers everywhere to start copying your behavior.
