In 2020, long-time 670 The Score host Dan McNeil was dismissed after questioning on social media whether Maria Taylor was an “NFL sideline reporter or host for the AVN annual awards presentation” based on her outfit. Recently, the station faced further upheaval, resulting in the firing of veteran host Dan Bernstein on Friday after he issued threats to a social media critic. While some speculated that McNeil might take a victory lap amid the negativity surrounding his former station, he expressed on X that he does not feel that way at all.
It’s a mistake to think any unrest at @670TheScore delights me. I was 30 when I laid the first breaks in ’92. Twice I quit. Once I was fired. And the place still holds a place deep in my heart. Best to @SpiegsAndHolmes, now the station’s only link to its ’90s DNA. #MyGuys

This followed another post where McNeil remarked that Bernstein “had no choice” and stated, “social media provide America’s HR departments.”
@dan_bernstein is out at the Score, @MitchRosen670 announced 30 mins ago. Those mad at him, he had no choice. Social media provide America’s HR departments. Wishing DB the best. He knows he screwed the pooch.

McNeil’s exit from The Score had many celebrating, which was similarly true for Bernstein’s departure. Notably, Barstool Sports’ Dave Portnoy, who feuded with Bernstein last year, popped champagne after Bernstein’s exit, a trend he’s maintained with many he has clashed with. On the other hand, Barstool’s Dan Katz took a more tempered stance, saying, “I don’t care who gets fired, I don’t like seeing people lose their job,” but remarked, “He is a dick. He had like ten strikes in the last decade.” In contrast, former The Score host Danny Parkins has come out in support of Bernstein.
