It was less than seven months ago that DraftKings first announced the addition of Trey Wingo to its programming lineup. However, despite the fanfare surrounding the ex-ESPN star’s arrival, reports indicate that DraftKings has parted ways with Wingo. It’s unclear when exactly his tenure with the Boston-based company ended, whether it was due to the expiration of his contract following the NFL season or an early termination. The last episode of his daily Pregame Powerup show was posted on DraftKings’ YouTube in January, and the final DraftKings-branded post on his active X account was dated Feb. 9, coinciding with the Super Bowl.
Furthermore, Pregame Powerup is no longer listed on DraftKings’ daily programming schedule. Wingo’s departure reflects a broader shift in DraftKings’ content strategy. Earlier this year, Mike Golic Jr. disclosed that DraftKings chose not to renew his daily GoJo and Golic show, although it still appears in the network’s programming. Additionally, Dan Le Batard mentioned that Meadowlark Media’s contract with DraftKings is approaching its expiration, though negotiations for renewal are underway. Ourand also highlighted the upcoming departure of DraftKings chief business and growth officer Marie Donoghue, who played a crucial role in the network’s content expansion after joining from Amazon last January.
Ultimately, DraftKings’ shift in programming strategy seems clear. Moving forward, it will be interesting to observe the outcome of negotiations with Meadowlark Media and how the online sportsbook adapts its approach leading up to the next football season.
