One of the most underrated aspects of the NCAA Tournament is the variety of ad reads performed by CBS and Warner Bros. Discovery announcers. However, as Brian Anderson learned on Thursday, it’s not as straightforward as it may seem. Over the years, we’ve seen some absurd truTV shows receive attention during these ad reads. Scott Van Pelt famously enjoyed guessing whether truTV shows were real or fake to kick off March Madness.
In contrast, MobLand, which is set to premiere on Paramount+ later this month, features well-known Hollywood stars like Tom Hardy, Helen Mirren, and Pierce Brosnan. However, during his ad read, Brian Anderson humorously mispronounced it as “Mo-Blend.”

You can certainly understand the challenge of doing ad reads while calling four NCAA Tournament games in one day, which is no easy feat in the media world. In Brian Anderson’s defense, Mobland sounds like it could easily pass for a dark, sleepy British village, the setting of the show. Not every Paramount+ series can simply take place in the Taylor Sheridan universe.
This amusing moment serves to highlight and appreciate Kevin Harlan’s ad reads even more; they are far more challenging than they appear.
