Say something about Tee Higgins and prepare to face the wrath of his mother, as FS1 hosts Joy Taylor and Nick Wright recently discovered. The Cincinnati Bengals made a massive investment in their offense to support quarterback Joe Burrow, giving long-term contract extensions to Higgins and Ja’Marr Chase, with Higgins signing a four-year, $115 million contract and Chase inking a historic $161 million deal.
Earlier this week on FS1’s Speak, Joy Taylor didn’t question Higgins’ abilities but raised concerns about Cincinnati’s financial decisions, asking if it was the best use of funds. “It’s not that Tee Higgins didn’t deserve to get paid; I’m just surprised they paid him in Cincinnati. If you’re serious about winning championships, yes, you need high-level talent on offense, but you also need some semblance of a defense.”
Higgins’ mom came across the segment, quote-tweeting it with a line from The Color Purple: “Harpo who dis woman.”

Perhaps Higgins’ mom genuinely doesn’t know who Taylor is, despite Taylor making headlines recently. What Taylor said regarding Higgins was reasonable; having Burrow, Higgins, and Chase on long-term contracts optimizes their offense’s potential. However, it doesn’t address last year’s defensive issues. Yet, had Cincinnati let one of their star wide receivers go, ownership would have been criticized for being cheap.
It wasn’t only Taylor who faced Higgins’ mother’s ire. After Nick Wright commented, “I don’t think this is the best path forward for them to win a championship,” he also heard from the wide receiver’s mom.

She quipped, “Shut up d*ck, oops I mean Nick,” alongside emojis, while quote-tweeting a video of his criticism—another fair point. Sports media beware: if you say anything that isn’t an endorsement of Tee Higgins, be prepared for a response from his mother.
