The High Point Panthers had an incredible season, earning their first NCAA Tournament bid. Their student radio broadcasters became viral sensations overnight after paying their own way to the Big South Conference final. The University then covered their expenses for the Round of 64 in Providence, Rhode Island.
Unfortunately, their journey came to an end when the No. 13 Panthers lost 75-64 to the No. 4 Purdue Boilermakers. Despite putting up a strong fight and closing the gap to just three points, Matt Painter’s team was ultimately the stronger opponent. However, it was not all in vain, as High Point’s Jimmy Rosselli and Griffin Wright received some airtime on truTV, thanks to Andrew Catalon.
Before the game, Catalon—who has a background as a student broadcaster at Syracuse—met with Rosselli and Wright. Seizing the opportunity, he used his platform on truTV to highlight them. “This is their High Point,” Catalon said. “They’re doing a tremendous job. They paid their own way to the conference tournament and went viral for some of their incredible calls. This time, the school picked up the tab, flew them up to Providence, and put them up in the team hotel. They’re having the time of their lives. I spoke with both of them before the game. They’re a lot of fun, as you can see. I’m wishing them all the best.”
Andrew Catalon shared a nice shoutout for the High Point student radio announcers.

While High Point’s season has concluded, the memories will last a lifetime. The Panthers demonstrated their capability on the big stage, and their broadcasters did as well. For Rosselli and Wright, this experience transcended just calling a game; it was about pursuing a dream. Catalon’s shoutout opened up a whole new audience to the magic of college sports and student media.
Though their team’s run is over, their journey is just beginning.
