NBA fans likely aren’t surprised that Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr had issues with the officiating during Tuesday night’s game. Similar to Donald Trump, Kerr often expresses his grievances, and on this occasion, it was the officials’ turn to face his wrath.
During the first quarter against the Milwaukee Bucks, a foul call on Warriors forward Jimmy Butler led to a three-point play by Gary Trent Jr. While Kerr sought an explanation from crew chief Mark Lindsay from the sideline, the crowd chimed in, chanting, “Ref, you suck,” loud enough for viewers on the NBC Sports Bay Area broadcast to hear.
Instead of following in Gregg Popovich’s footsteps by grabbing the PA microphone to admonish the fans, Kerr joined in with laughter, seemingly enjoying the moment. A minute later, when the officials paused the game to clean up sweat on the court, it became another opportunity for Kerr to voice his frustration. A nearby mic captured him berating official Brent Barnaky, saying, “There’s so many fouls every play then! Like, just call a foul every time. On every possession. If that’s a foul, then everything’s a foul.”
Despite Kerr’s frustrations, Golden State managed to rally past the controversial foul call on Butler, ultimately winning the game 104-93. Now, fans eagerly await Kerr’s next round of comments.
