After a year-long break focusing on pass-catchers, Netflix is set to return to the quarterbacks. On Wednesday, the streaming giant announced the second season of its Quarterback docuseries, which follows some of the NFL’s top signal-callers. Season 2 is scheduled for release this July and promises plenty of engaging storylines by highlighting Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow, Detroit Lions’ Jared Goff, and Atlanta Falcons’ Kirk Cousins.
Along with the announcement, Netflix released a one-minute trailer for the upcoming series.

While Cousins may have the least current star power among the trio, he stands out as an intriguing subject for this year’s series. Cousins, who also featured in the first season alongside Patrick Mahomes and Jalen Hurts in 2023, had a tumultuous year. After signing with the Falcons as a free agent, he watched the team use a top 10 draft pick on another quarterback, Washington’s Michael Penix Jr. In his first season post-injury, Cousins struggled through much of 2024 and eventually was benched for Penix as the Falcons attempted to salvage their playoff hopes.
In contrast, Burrow enjoyed an MVP-caliber season despite the Bengals failing to secure a playoff spot (and facing a high-profile home invasion), while Goff led the Lions from Super Bowl favorites to an early playoff exit. Although Quarterback may have saved costs by not filming beyond the NFL Divisional Round—unlike Season 1, which captured Mahomes and Hurts in the Super Bowl—Season 2 holds immense potential and signals a welcome return for the series after last year’s less successful replacement, Receiver.
