Aaron Rodgers Allegedly Attracting Minimal Attention from NFL Media

There’s no love lost between Aaron Rodgers and the media. In fact, we at Awful Announcing have an entire archive full of receipts indicating Rodgers’s disdain for NFL insiders, who have given up on him while he searches for a new home. He’s ruffled some feathers along the way, telling Adam Schefter to “lose my number” and questioning whether ESPN’s NFL insider engages in “quid pro quo” relationships for scoops. He’s had his run-ins with Dianna Russini and Ryan Clark. However, he had no beef with the local media covering him in New York and New Jersey and shows appreciation for Pam Oliver and Pat McAfee, even if he’s keeping the latter in the dark regarding his latest decisions.

If he decides to turn down the New York Giants or Pittsburgh Steelers and puts his Hall of Fame career to rest, he isn’t expected to pursue broadcasting, a sentiment that appears to be mutual. According to Michael McCarthy of Front Office Sports, NFL media partners aren’t urgently seeking to add Rodgers to their rosters.

McCarthy further notes that network executives and agents he consulted declined to speak about Rodgers on the record, although privately, they are satisfied with their current broadcast teams and see no immediate openings. Several media executives, speaking anonymously, expressed concerns that Rodgers might come off as a “pompous know-it-all,” potentially alienating viewers. This concern is exacerbated by his obsession with Dr. Anthony Fauci and a public feud with Jimmy Kimmel.

Though there’s no denying his football genius, Rodgers isn’t universally beloved. Throughout his NFL career, people loved to hate him, as evidenced by the NFL’s unwavering support for the Jets as a national media darling despite their on-field struggles. The question remains: would that dynamic translate to the media? Executives are hesitant, fearing his controversial off-field persona could overshadow his insights and potentially turn off more viewers than he attracts.

For now, Rodgers’ future in broadcasting remains uncertain and may be another decision deferred.
