Stephen A. Smith may be igniting a feud with Megyn Kelly over a Philadelphia Eagles story that has proven to be completely fabricated. A two-week-old report claiming the Eagles would not visit the White House to celebrate their Super Bowl LIX victory with President Donald Trump recently went viral, prompting anger from Kelly and many others who rushed to judgment.
SAME. GO F YOURSELVES EAGLES. My husband is a fan so I got onboard but F this BS https://t.co/KemoC67QEu

In reality, the Eagles have not declined an invitation to the White House—they haven’t even received one. On the latest episode of The Stephen A. Smith Show, the First Take host called out Kelly, not for credulously believing a fake report, but for her reaction to it. Smith prefaced his comments by praising Kelly as an “outstanding journalist” whom he admires.
“Was that necessary?” Smith asked. “Really? They ain’t feeling Trump. So what? 74 million plus people weren’t feeling Trump. F them too? Come on, Megyn. You don’t need to do that. It’s just not necessary. And by the way, if any team was justified in not wanting to show up to the White House, it would be the Philadelphia Eagles.” This uproar was triggered by an article from The U.S. Sun, published three days prior to the Super Bowl, alleging the Eagles had already decided against visiting Trump’s White House—hardly their focus just days before facing the Kansas City Chiefs.
The article claimed a member of the Eagles’ ownership group stated they “wouldn’t go to the White House,” with an unnamed player allegedly echoing this sentiment. This misinformation has since been refuted by several outlets, with CNN’s Jake Tapper reporting that he was informed the team would be “honored” to visit the White House. By the time Smith recorded his rant, Kelly had acknowledged that her reaction may have been in response to fake news.
Smith further noted that Trump had openly supported the Kansas City Chiefs during Super Bowl LIX, despite maintaining a personal feud with their superfan Taylor Swift. He reminded viewers that the Eagles also declined to visit the White House after their Super Bowl LII victory in 2018 due to Trump uninviting the team upon learning only a few players were willing to attend.
“And Megyn Kelly, if it’s gonna be ‘F the Eagles,’ could it come from someone other than you?” Smith pressed. “I mean, you’re great. I learn things from watching you. I respect your knowledge and find you compelling and interesting…but was that necessary? Don’t let people bring you down to their level.”
“I’m just saying,” Smith concluded. “Respectfully, in a very, very nice way because I am a fan, Megyn Kelly. Be nice. Be nice.” Forget about being nice—just check the source.
