Buffalo Sabres analyst Rob Ray took extra precautions during Tuesday’s game after being hit by a puck on Saturday. While standing between the benches, a puck soared over the boards and struck him in the face, an incident that was evident to viewers. In response, Ray was not at ice level for Tuesday’s game against the Anaheim Ducks; instead, he positioned himself in the 300-level seating at Buffalo’s KeyBank Center, specifically in the last row of the stadium.

Although we might think Ray learned his lesson, this was not the first time such an incident occurred. Time will reveal whether this new safety seating arrangement will become standard for him. However, it’s likely that he’ll return to the ice level sooner rather than later. Even in retirement, as one of hockey’s most recognized enforcers, Ray seems unable to escape the bumps and bruises synonymous with the sport.
