Ahead of the new league year, the Green Bay Packers were anticipated to part ways with Jaire Alexander. As NFL free agency approaches, along with a potentially thriving trade market, news emerged that supported that suspicion regarding the Packers and the former Pro Bowler. NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport detailed a potential strategy to trade Alexander away from Green Bay, announcing it on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.

Rapoport confirmed, “The Packers have had trade conversations centered around star CB Jaire Alexander, and they are open to moving him for the right price.” In 2018, Green Bay selected Alexander from Louisville with the 18th overall pick. He quickly established himself as one of the NFL’s top cornerbacks, earning Pro Bowl honors by his third year in the league, as well as Second-Team All-Pro accolades that season. However, Alexander has faced challenges with injury, playing a total of just 14 games over the last two seasons after appearing in all 16 games in 2022. While he managed to record two interceptions during limited action last year, those remain his only two picks over the last two seasons with the Packers.
Regardless, Alexander’s availability could significantly impact the secondary market in the NFL this offseason. With the trade market expected to be bustling, we’ll have to monitor how everything unfolds. If this marks the end of his time in Green Bay, Alexander has had a commendable career.
