Sunday’s game against the New York Rangers went spectacularly for the Buffalo Sabres, who triumphed with an 8-2 victory. However, it’s safe to say that not everything went according to plan for Sabres analyst Rob Ray. Just after Buffalo scored late in the first period to establish a commanding 4-0 lead, a routine face-off took a wild turn when New York defenseman Will Borgen attempted to clear the puck. His pass, unfortunately, veered off course, soaring directly over the wall and striking Ray in the face.
Ray’s reaction was immediate, unleashing a loud and understandable F-bomb in response to the unexpected hit.

The game paused briefly as Ray received some medical attention. Fortunately, he remained on his feet and promptly signaled for play to resume. After the incident, he showcased the stitches he received above his eye during the broadcast, pointing at the painful welt and quipping, “Right where the golf ball is right here. That’s not normal.”

During his playing career, Ray established himself as one of hockey’s premier enforcers and remains Buffalo’s all-time leader in penalty minutes, making this incident just another chapter in his history of getting stitches from the brutality of hockey games.
